My grandad has a new panasonic micro system and wants to play his old records, but his new system hasn't got any red and white audio plugs, will a USB turntable work ok plugged into the USB socket on his new system.

I would doubt it - usb sockets on micro systems are generally for file systems, like memory sticks with MP3 files on.

USB turntables act as an external computer sound card, and need to be installed onto an operating system like Windows, MacOS or Linux.

The Micro system won't be able to talk to the turntable, as it doesn't understand what it is.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I have an Elonex Cube also without phono input sockets(which would have been useful) but with a USB port and a USB turntable....they are mutually incompatible I`m afraid.
