Can anyone help please:

I have just bought a Samsung LE40M87BDX and have hooked it up to my Denon 1930 dvd player.

When I press the HDMI button on the DVD player to select the number of lines i.e 720p it works fine but when I sellect either 1080i or 1080p on the dvd player the screen on the tele judders badly even if there is no dvd inserted.

I hope I am being blonde and its not a fault on either equipment!

Please help, many thanks - Matt

When you use the HDMI select button on either the remote or the player what resolution does the player select? Also what HDMI cable are you using? Is it 1080p compliant?

Hi,

Well... when I press the button I can choose either off, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

The 480p and 720p are fine (no judder) the two 1080s show a very clear picture but the screen judders up and down. It does display 1080 on the screen next to video info.

I am using a Qunex QED hdmi cable - the purple one which retails at £50.

I used this cable yesterday round a mates on his ps3, he has exactly the same tv as mine and the blue ray dvd worked perfect with no judder on his tv. Obvisously my test is with a normal dvd and not a blue ray one - but I presume the 1080p still applies?

Thanks , Matt

if this fault cannot be fixed. then what the point of purchasing a 1080p tv without a proper hd or blu ray dvd player.

like me you purchased a quality tv, dvd player and lead but cannot get the best results out of them.

someone at what hifi must know if there is an answer to the problems.

I found this quote on the net:

1080p Out - What About 1080p In?
An HDTV set that claims 1080p resolution displays 1080p resolution, but does not necessarily accept it as input. The TV can upconvert lower-resolution signals to 1080p; however, it may not be able to accept incoming 1080p signals from high-resolution sources, such as an HD DVD or Blu-ray player

Does this apply to our samsung le40m87bdx?
