Ultra Short Throw projectors are getting seriously good, but there are still a few major flaws

As you found out, most 100" TVs would be very difficult to get into a lot of UK homes, whereas a UST projector and screen is easy.
If you use a white screen then no matter how good the projector, you will never get true blacks, however if you use a grey or ALR screen, then the difference is small.
A 100" TV in a room will look ugly (Unless in a dedicated room), which rules it out for a lot of people, whereas a roll down/up screen can be hidden.
We view the world primarily via reflected light, not self-emissive light, therefore the projector is more natural without requiring any bias lighting. (Thus, a projector causes less eye strain)
