TV Shootout: Panasonic CZ950, LG EF950V OLED, ZT Plasma

For 1080p, ZT is better in my opinion and ive seen gels OLED side by side at the first shootout. If we are talking black levels then there is no doubt that OLED goes darker. When it comes to shadow detail, then the plasma wins because lg haven't cracked it as yet, but they are getting there.

so gel, if you read the advert on hdtv test website re the shootout next week, then you'll see they are comparing the the latest OLEDS from pannasonic and lg against the last produced reference pdp; I.e. It is a bench mark.

you see the thing is gel, I too get annoyd by your perpetual comments that your OLED is better than every ones plasma. It isn't mate because a: it isn't calibrated, b: shadow detail is not as good as pdp and c: there are colour issues in particularly what I viewed was the blues in sky scenes, we're not natural.

so pull your head out and go to the event on the 7th and you can then come on here spouting with an informed view. This is why I'm going, is to see for my self because I may have 1 of these OLEDS on my chimney breast for Christmas.

love and peace !

Bigboss, for some reason (buried in a traumatic childhood event no doubt) gel finds it necessary to keep on telling us that OLED is better than plasma, about at least every fortnight, both here and on AVForums. Even Steve Withers couldn't understand why gel keeps on belittling a technology that has now been dead for two years. I don't know why gel keeps on banging on about OLED being better than plasma, but lordy, it is tiresome.
Thats because numpties like you keep saying plasma is still better than OLED all the time, I am just stating the obvious what's wrong with that? You keep saying plasma is better Steve Withers doesn't understand that either! So what have you got to say about that then? *smile*

Over the last week or so, gel, both here and on AVForums, you have made wild claims and then, when I challenge you to source your claims, you have given internet links that do not support your claims. Very well. Please, (accurately if you don't mind, and don't just quote an internet thread, tell us post number X) quote to me wherever I, Son_of_SJ, made a blanket statement that said plasma was better than OLED.

You see gel, I'm comfortable in my own skin and am happy with my own AV equipment. If someone else has kit that is better than mine (like bigboss) then I'm still happy. I don't feel the need to keep saying that my technology is better than someone else's. I really, really wish that you would stop it.

Don't forget to find exactly where I said that plasma was better than OLED, if you would be so kind.

Look the new flat LG OLED 65ef only gets 1 ten out of 10 the rest of the results are behind:

https://www.avforums.com/review/lg-65ef950v-ef950-ef9500-ultra-hd-4k-ole...
So no doubt in your shootout you are going to bang on about colour accuracy on the ZT65 being better than the flat LG?

Sorry gel, when you say "in your shootout you" who is "your"? It would help if you made it clear if you are addressing Series1boy, HDTVfan, me, or anyone else!

Unfortunatly does not look like i can make it to this event, those who are attending be sure to let us know your thoughts please.

PS

I was wondering if anyone from What HiFi staff might be going along?

Fair enough guys I have my opinion and views and you have yours and we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Peace and love all around. Merry Xmas! *smile*. Or not quite.

I notice that you can't answer my post number 52. You cannot quote where I, or indeed anyone else, blindly said that plasma is better than OLED. Yet another unsupported assertion by you. Having different opinions is fine, gel, but don't you go claiming that people have said dogmatically that plasma is better than OLED, when they have not said that.

In your post number 44 you said "You keep saying plasma is better Steve Withers doesn't understand that either! So what have you got to say about that then?". Mr Withers is an extremely knowledgeable and sensible man, I've met him, in 2013 he calibrated all four of my plasma televisions. I'm sure he'd be dismayed to hear that he is being misquoted. Mr Withers has not said that. He may have said that one particular OLED set is better than one particular plasma, but that's not the same as saying that all OLEDs are better than all plasmas. Indeed, only recently (and unlike you, I can give chapter and verse) he said that he himself wouldn't have the EC970V OLED because it can't be properly calibrated. Okay, I'd better give chapter and verse, just to prove that I don't write fiction. In the AVForums review of the Panasonic 4K OLED, https://www.avforums.com/threads/panasonic-tx-65cz952b-cz952-ultra-hd-4k-oled-tv-review.1986331/page-4 post 128. AND, you might like to also look at posts 80, 88 and 105, to see what Mr Withers actually says. Not everything about plasma is bad.

Gel, you have a television that (if it were calibrated) is capable of excellent pictures. We are all happy for you. Just, pretty please, don't rubbish anyone else's machines.

I didn't say plasmas are rubbish I have owned 5 (I would hardly do that if I thought they were rubbish would I?). I have said my piece the links are there and the words are in there if you are to lazy to read that's your problem not mine. Anyway piece and I love plasma too.

I think what happens here is that to many tend to listen to one Calibrator over on AVF and draw there conclusions from him......................to be honest imo the guy is talking BS, just seen some of his comments about the TV's adjusting at different stages, stageA, StageB etc what a load of bollox. LOL. The guy is a joke IMO.
*shok*. *smile*

Gel mate i deleted my post as it's not worth it. Could you do the same please.
no probs, you have got to delete this one.

That's part of the problem, gel. You gave a link and what you were trying to prove was not in the link. That's why I say to quote individual post numbers, not just the subject link because some of the threads can run to many pages. You can't reasonably expect people to go through up to 20 pages of a thread to find the one post that might support you. I now quote individual post numbers within a thread so it's easy for anyone to check what I say. Everyone should.

Fair enough. Peace out.

Son Of SJ. Mate i have been more than guilty than most of getting my facts mixed up, or just been plain wrong. But we are all just talking TV's here, we should all be mates and move on.

I am sure we are all just here to give the best (most honest) advice we can to the best of our knowledge, it does not always work out i know and everyone like me i suppose tries to sort the wheat from the chaff.

If that makes sense (my posts often don't LOL)

It does make sense - I think! *blum3*

Don't you guys read the reviews? Clearly not! *biggrin*

Yep, nobody is denying that your own particular OLED is excellent (which has NOT been the case for every OLED). Could you give the internet links of the two reviews that you have quoted from? By the way, next time don't put the whole quotation in bold text, that makes it hard to read.

By the way, reviews are all very well but it's for each person to make up his or her own mind, which will sometimes not agree with the reviews.
