Turntable platforms

Has anyone any experience of platforms? For when the turntable can't be attached to the wall.

I've seen some that are 20mm of sheet acrylic with spikes etc - others glass etc

Thing is that I can't really have a wall mount.

Currently my TT is in top of a couple of Ikea Besta units that have my LPs and amp/DAC in.
