Bit of a moan here, why release them separtely and with a dvd, if your a fan you would have the dvds anyway?

Also why not 1 and 2 together with just the blu rays.

I am a fan but am definetely going to avoid especially with the current cheapest prices of £16 each.

Disappointed.

There's bound to be some nice collector's box at the end of the year.

They will probably sling in TS3 at the same time then.

My Wife will want these but I have a Samsung BD1500 and it seems to not work with a lot of new animated disks.

Excellent as the Toy Strory films are I'm not expecting to be wowed by them on blu-ray. Since they were made, animation has advanced greatly. The best looking animated film I've seen to date is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, great soundtrack too and not a bad film either.

I watched the DVDs the other weekend and they still look very good upscaled into a 40" screen.

Good animation has always looked good on DVD though.

Imo

Yeah a box set with the lot would be great, but at the moment 1 and 2 cost £32, how much for a toy story 3 3D blu ray do you think?

Thanks

The "going rate" for new Disney/Pixar releases on BD seem to be between £16 and £20 depending where you buy.

No idea about 3D releases, or whether they would charge a premium for that.

I understand what you're saying, but the resolution they're shot in is far higher than DVD, and I think you'll be surprised how good they can look. Having said that, however dated the animation may be, it takes nothing away from how good these films are

I too think you may be very surprised at just how much better Toy Story will look on BD over DVD, I recently purchased UP! which is a BD/DVD combo pack and comapried them and the BD is miles infront of the DVD not only for detail but there was a distinct diferance in the vibrancy of the picture(which you would expect) not to mention the sound.

I've no doubt the quality of the transfer will be exceptional as with all other Pixar releases. I was referring to the animation, although ground breaking at the time, has improved greatly over the years so it wont wow as much as more recent releases. Saying that though it the quality of the story which really makes a film and Toy Story 1 & 2 has quality here in spades

Disney says that the US release, at least, will be

"English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio(48 kHz/24-Bit),
French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital"

Crikey master audio that would be fantastic.

Has anyone seen what the UK soundtrack will be?

Perhaps you could let me know when you get it or if you see it somewhere.

Thanks

FWIW was watching this on BD at the weekend - and it has an amazing 6.1-channel dts-HD soundtrack to go with the stunning visuals

And the US version, though dubbed into English rather than subtitled, is region-free...
