anybody else a bit put off buying toshiba since thay lost the format war.all i keep hearing is how thay think bluray will fail and as thay were trying to sell me a very simalar product little over 12 months ago(witch i was very close to buying)i feel thay are treating us as fools.

from what i remember thay made a couple of great players.why dont thay just bring out a bluray player better than the rest in that budget as im shaw the coments are aimed at sony and the likes rather than the format. just seems to me thay keep telling us it wont work but 12 months ago hd was great and was there really much diffrence to the viewer.

I will never buy anything made by Toshiba again after the HDDVD fiasco. Shame as my two CRT TV's previous to my plasma were made by Tosh and were excellent. The HDVD player is still going strong but I agree, they should just bite the bullet and join the BD party and forget this upscaling nonsense.

At the time of realse HD-DVD was the more complete format and much better value,it only lost out because Warner studios ended up switching to blu-ray.

I think its good they still pursure other formats/technologies,the more consumer choice the better!Personaly I wouldn't buy their new upscaling player though.

dont get me wrong if thay came up with a class leading tv i would probably go for it but imagine if sony gave up every time thay lost out like not bringing out mp3 players when mini disk didnt take off .or not making vhs when beta max died.

i feel sorry for all that got hd players and are now told your better of upscalling what you had before.
