Thinking of buying a Sony KDL-40HX803

Advice wanted, please, on the 40" HX803.

Having popped into my local Sony Centre and viewed a 40" HX803 selling for £1199.99, I'm thinking of giving up on the Philips 9705 which would cost me a further £1,000 or more after I'd bought a Freeview HD box. I only saw the 2D picture which looked very good. I notice that the WHIFI review is a bit iffy about the 3D which I am only wanting for "futureproofing". Has anyone any views and experience on the 3D picture?

The 803 is selling for just £200 more than the 703 which got 5 stars. Apart from 3D, are there any gains from the extra £200,

the 703 has motionflow 100htz

the 803 has motionflow 200htz pro I am sure!!

So in theory you should get better motion with the 803.

They are both 200hz, the 703 was the CCFL model, not LED nor 3d

no, the hx703 is an edge lit led set, as is the hx803. and both are 200hz sets.

edit.. god this sony range is confusing, the hx703 is ccfl..

why the hell did sony not stick to the alphabet they were only using s,v,w,x and z before plenty more letters!!!

Thanks everyone. The 803 is slightly slimmer which is a plus for my wife who really just wants a 32" TV.

Another question if I may. I assume that I can connect my Cyrus8x amp to the TV for a better sound. The cable run would be in the region of 8 metres. Are there anysuitable flat cables on the market that I can lay under the carpet?

John Lewis have the 40HX803 for £1169 now with free BDP-S570, not a bad price if you are still interested. The 46" is down to £1599 with the same blu-ray player given away. They also have some good offers on the Samsung C8000 40" and 46" packages and £200 cash back on redemption.

Assuming that the competition will keep the price down, I think that I will wait until the October WHIFI mag comes out. Still having wife ear ache on the size.
