i'm anxious to see how this one goes! above nominating three films, I wanted to nominate films that I would see in a normal basis, and just not because it was nominated in a film club.

But I liked a lot SS 5+, can talk about LQV yet. But will rent Snowtown, i'm corious about that one.

Only one is available on lovefilm which is going to influence my decision somewhat!

I meant to say, the person nominating should check that we can access the films quickly and without considerable outlay.

I planned to recommend Decasia, but unless you import the film (and who knows how long that would take) it's prohibitively expensive.

I don't have Lovefilm or other film service, so can't check if the titles are available... Sorry for that guys.

I have only two options as well, or my video club has the title to rent, or i've to bye it. Already bought two, SS5+ and LQV.

LQV is posted to sell... :roll: Will keep SS5+!

I recognise the lovefilm thing could be overly restrictive and it's only me using it. The other two films I'm assuming will be widely available; I'm surprised they aren't on lovefilm.

I mention availability because I can't find a copy of Silent Wedding for sale anywhere in the UK, on DVD or Blu-ray. (I tried searching under the original title and translation.) Perhaps I haven't looked hard enough. The film may be available to stream, but that would mean signing up to a service to watch just one film.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be awkward or confrontational. I simply wanted to highlight practical issues and suggest that members check that we can easily access the films they recommend.

when BBB had the idea to found this club was on a basis on a non mainstream films, so is to be expected that some are harder to find that others.

But the challenge is too great if we can't access the films at all, or have to import them (which may prove expensive and take a long time).

Ah, you're right. I can't find it either, except on a torrent site, which ain't gonna be happening. That is problematic.

If you follow the link from mine you'll see it's French. I've actually no idea where John's is from.

I'd assumed less investigation. For that I'm sorry. I remain convinced that John chose the first stile he came across.

Ah, well if I make a claim ('this is a French stile') I like it to have a basis in fact. I tend to agree with you about JD's choice, although he'll have to confirm for sure.

I haven't seen those Haneke films, I've added them to my list. I'm part way through Amour which I'm hoping to finish later tonight. I also have but haven't watched White Ribbon, which is meant to be excellent.

I chose the stile because - to me - it is slightly peculiar, being of a ladder, er, style rather then a bit planky. It is in Scotland I think.

I am awaiting a resolution on film choices before I choose.

I think there's a full length version of silent wedding on You Tube under the original title
