My 3 suggestions were all films that I had seen and loved. My next 3 suggestions will be the same.
It's the films you guys suggest that I haven't seen.

I meant to say, the person nominating should check that we can access the films quickly and without considerable outlay.
I planned to recommend Decasia, but unless you import the film (and who knows how long that would take) it's prohibitively expensive.
BenLaw said:I recognise the lovefilm thing could be overly restrictive and it's only me using it. The other two films I'm assuming will be widely available; I'm surprised they aren't on lovefilm.
Hi-FiOutlaw said:when BBB had the idea to found this club was on a basis on a non mainstream films, so is to be expected that some are harder to find that others.
strapped for cash said:I mention availability because I can't find a copy of Silent Wedding for sale anywhere in the UK, on DVD or Blu-ray. (I tried searching under the original title and translation.) Perhaps I haven't looked hard enough. The film may be available to stream, but that would mean signing up to a service to watch just one film.
Sorry, I'm not trying to be awkward or confrontational. I simply wanted to highlight practical issues and suggest that members check that we can easily access the films they recommend.

My video clube had a old copy of that one...
strapped for cash said:I'm not having a go at Hi-Fi Outlaw. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into the recommendations; and I'd be interested in watching each of the films.

No problem, but if this places Silent Wedding out of the running, perhaps you need to choose another film, which would mean the vote would start again. (Either that or we vote on two films.)

You might have to do some more.

I'd assumed less investigation. For that I'm sorry. I remain convinced that John chose the first stile he came across.
Ah, well if I make a claim ('this is a French stile') I like it to have a basis in fact. I tend to agree with you about JD's choice, although he'll have to confirm for sure.
I haven't seen those Haneke films, I've added them to my list. I'm part way through Amour which I'm hoping to finish later tonight. I also have but haven't watched White Ribbon, which is meant to be excellent.
