@ Singslinger

Thank you for the info.

If you get to hear it, I would love to read your opinion......not that I'm in the market!!

Hi Cno, I reckon it would be very very difficult to better the AMS 35i. But yes, I'll keep you and Mac in the loop - my dealer says the amp should be on sale in Sep or so.

Stay tuned!

Does look nice doesn't it: http://www.unilet.net/musical-fidelity-nu-vista-800-integrated-announced/

Very "Titan-esque"

I like to display panel, and prefer the rotary input selection to the small buttons on the AMS-35i

I suspect that the 35W rating of the 35i was getting it overlooked.......except by those in the know, and of course the people I badgered into trying it!!

I also agree that this new amp will do well not to lose some of the magic of its predecessor.....saying that, I suspect it will be very good indeed.

It looks much more contemporary.....I like it.

How are you getting on with your new toy, and are you appreciating the extra power and control with the Refs?

Lets hope that they manage to make some improvements on the remote control for the upcoming range. If there was one lingering compaint I had about the AMS range it is that ridiculous lump of metal...

The AMS50 has bedded down nicely now thanks. Winter is upon us down here & it is warming the room nicely!

I do feel that there is a greater sense of control & more weight to the bottom end.

Am in the process of trying to twist my friends arm into taking the AMS35 off my hands, have nearly got him over the line >)

Have also been eyeing off a trade in pair of SF Amati Futuras, mmmmm, such beauty. The rear porting is a concern for me though. God they are so sexy.

I like your style.....though you are getting a very long way from the Focal sound.

If what I can find online about them is true they are more neutral than they tradition SF house sound, which may or may not be a good thing. So while certainly different to the Focal sound they may not be as far away as older SF models.

The reviews are positive but certainly not overwhelmingly so. The pair I'm looking at are only a few months old & have been traded in, so it would be intresting to know why.

have you seen them in the flesh? Did I mention how utterly beautiful they are!! I'm sure my eye's could easily trick my brain into thunking that they are the best sounding speakers out there ;)

No, I have not seen or heard them....but I think I can say with certainty, that they will sound nothing like the Utopia range.

SF is a brand I'm really interested in too... there's some Guarneri Homage on sale over here at the moment, but like you it's the rear port probably makes it a no go.

Hi Cno..

Is your amp been serviced since you had it? Mine is dated Sept. 2010 and Im thinking if it needs servicing soon. There's nothing wrong with it and it works wonderfully as it should.

No, my amp hasn't been serviced....generally, I'm of the opinion that if there is nothing wrong, then leave well alone. If in doubt, give MF a ring (if you do, can you let me know what they tell you?)

The EMC 1UP sound is massive but gentle like velvet to the touch with plenty of detail and both share holographic sound so every music I play is absolutely floating in the air . I was like a child running after blow bubbles in the air :p

The money you've saved by not changing to a DS, can now go towards some "new series" Kef Refs.

.....absolutely, but I (surprisingly) didn't like to push it.

Sorry Cno..

as you know English is not my native language.. It's not always easy to express my thoughts with regards to hifi etc.. in this forum.. But to the best I can do I always want to share my experiences to "help and guide" our fellow forum members(newbies) . And that restricts me from doing so..

Cno..

Just had a coversation with MF staff by phone.. and with regards all my querries. first about servicing the amp. She told me not to worry about it until it will show shw some fault and leave it as it is. then further Ive asked about fine tuning.. It will costs £800..Then I asked what changes will it be (intennally) . I was told better internal parts than the previous. But they will be closed next month till first wk of Aug. and advised me to send my amp just in case Im willing by 2nd wk Aug. Normally it would take 4-5 weeks |(
