Went for a trawl at HMV this morning.

Always been good for an hour's browsing for music.

HMV have diversified further recently, with Mobiles, etc. Other than the 2 for a tenner promotion section, there is very little choice.

10 copies of each of the most popular cd's and not much else.

It's obviously due to the fact that online shops stock everything available, and are usually a couple of quid cheaper...and not forgetting Itunes/Napster/Spotify.

I had a copy of Tolga Kashif's new Genesis suite in my hands looking like a good old impulse buy, but I decided to to check if it was on Spotify whilst in the shop.....

Yes it was, so I put it back until I hear it at home. I may buy the CD.

Technology (which I love) is killing it for me, although it is savng me money....

I'm loving it. I've spent too much money on albums based on one track only to find out the rest of the album is pants!

Although, it costs me money too, as the favourite albums I buy anyway so I can use them for demos in store.

I've done some research on this for work and the findings say that this is situation across all media - not just CD's. We think we have more choice, but actually the successful music has become more dominated by fewer over time since the internet and marketing of music as a whole.

Saying that, the choice is there, its just harder to find.
