One could also say you are also guilty of blinkeredness. Some people don't care what they drive, as long as it works, whilst others love a car to have some character. Very different points of view but, neither is wrong.

Me, I'm a Citroëniste and drive a Citroën now. A C3 Picasso, it was a pragmatic choice to help my wife, is far from exciting but, it does have an old school Citroën feel about it in the well cushioned, loping ride. Would I rather drive a standardised Chinese EV? NO. Would I enjoy driving an older Alfa? Definitely.

My current daily driver is a Mazda MX-5 (ND) just as an FYI, and have never owned anything practical or pragmatic as my daily.

But that doesn't mean I'm so blinkered as to denounce MGs as "generic pieces of tat"....

I wouldn’t have described MGs as generic tat but, I would describe them and, many other new cars, as generic travelling appliances and, as an MX5 owner, you must understand the desire not to drive something boring.

Nowadays I drive cars that are functional.
I understand your passion for exciting cars like the Mazda MX5.
Back in my youth I loved driving around in my rear wheeled Nissan SX200. That was a beast of a car.

Never a good idea taking it out on the road with ice. I recall spinning out of control on a roundabout covered in black frost. Fortunately for me it was three thirty in the morning and no one on the road.

How many MGs have you driven or even sat in to arrive at that view out of interest?

And there it is!

Just a rant based on your rose tinted view of Alfas... Typical car bore blinkeredness
Nope, I'm a true petrolhead who wants to feel the road through the steering wheel.

Have I driven a Chinese built MG? No, but I have driven the bro-in-laws Tesla Model S. Very fast and smooth but very sterile.

I was surprised to see MG given this year's Autocar gong as car company of the year. Not read the piece yet to see why, as it caused a slight raise of the eyebrow. Even the ballistically quick Cyberster has been reviewed as being vey quick and dramatic to look at, but poorly-resolved.

Let's stay away from getting personal please.

Lamborghini or Bugatti?

I'll probably soil my pants getting in one of those, even in my wildest dreams, the Dream Moderator will tell me to move along, you can't afford it.

Hmmm how much does Corgi charge for their authentic scale down toy models 1/1000?

No the lure of the Goth was too much, I've decided on the Batmobile. What's that pointing on the front, maybe it's excited to see me? 😀
