One could also say you are also guilty of blinkeredness. Some people don't care what they drive, as long as it works, whilst others love a car to have some character. Very different points of view but, neither is wrong.
Me, I'm a Citroëniste and drive a Citroën now. A C3 Picasso, it was a pragmatic choice to help my wife, is far from exciting but, it does have an old school Citroën feel about it in the well cushioned, loping ride. Would I rather drive a standardised Chinese EV? NO. Would I enjoy driving an older Alfa? Definitely.
My current daily driver is a Mazda MX-5 (ND) just as an FYI, and have never owned anything practical or pragmatic as my daily.
But that doesn't mean I'm so blinkered as to denounce MGs as "generic pieces of tat"....
