Hello,
I have a Naim SuperNait (mark 1) which has 2 inputs: Mac Mini via Toslink and Marantz Receiver via RCA analogue.
When the SuperNait is in AUX mode (connected to Mac via Toslink) there is a hissing sound from the speakers. You can't hear from listening position, only when your ear is closer to the speaker.
When the SN is in AV mode there is no hissing at all - complete silence.
I tried disconnecting the Toslink, thinking maybe the Mac caused it, but it made no difference.
So it seems either the DAC or PreAmp inside the SuperNait causes the hiss, but not the PowerAmp as it doesn't happen in AV mode.
Anybody experienced this, maybe with another brand of amp? Interested as to why it doesn't affect all inputs...
