Streaming using an Xbox one s

I have a Synology DS213j NAS, Marantz PM6002 (and CD6002), a Sony STR-DA2400ES av amp, and a Panasonic DMP-BDT320 blu ray player.

I'd like to stream flac files from the NAS to the PM6002.

The Panasonic blu ray player is fine when it can handle the file type, however some streamed flac or aac files play in slow motion.

I therefore would like to try to use the Xbox one S media player to output streamed files to the Marantz PM 6002 via my STR-DA2400ES.

Can someone tell me whether the safe way to do this is using the pre outs on the Sony STR-DA2400ES connected to one of the RCA inputs on the Marantz?

I take it Xbox is connected to your av amp via hdmi or optical/coax and the av amp by rca to Marantz. I'd use line outs not pre outs though.

Shouldn't see any problems doing it that way but it seems over complicated and may not be very practical to run all this equipment just for flac playback.

Many thanks for your reply insider9. The Xbox is connected to the AV amp via HDMI; it doesn't have analog outputs. The AV amp's user manual here http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3289204423.pdf shows its outputs on pages 8 and 9; these don't include line outs.

This is not the ultimate in practicality, I agree, but I really don't see how a streamer costing £350 to £700 can be justified to listen to hifi music every so often, when existing equipment duplicates many of the dedicated streamer's useful (to me) functions.

I'm trying to determine how to connect the AV amp to the Marantz hifi stereo amp - which outputs and inputs go together.

Is this reasonable please?

I'd connect it to MD/Tape Out this should probably work as a line out. Difference between the line out and pre out would be that the line output is fixed gain. The pre out volume would vary depending on volume on av receiver and would confuse the whole thing even more.

My guess is MD/Tape out will work as a line out hence you'll only need to adjust volume on Marantz.

I also fully agree that spending few hundred pounds in this scenario for a streamer would be excessive. Have you considered a cheaper alternative as Chromecast Audio or similar cheap streamer? Easily operated from a mobile/tablet and saving a hassle of running xbox and av receiver.
