Streaming music?..

I may want to put my pc on my big plasma tv instead of my smaller dedicated lcd tv.

At the moment my small asus eee pc is bolted to the back of my small tv, with audio connected via a phone to mini jack (pc line out), to my amp hifi setup. I have had some noise problems with my pc input, which im looking into and is ongoing.

Im looking at Apples Airport Express as an option to stream my audio to my hifi, is this a good idea?....

It is a good little device.

You can obviously stream music to your hifi and connect it via a 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable.

You also have the option to connect it digitally via 3.5mm to Toslink/Optical so you could look at connecting it to a DAC at some stage.

does it not have normal phono outputs then?

just a 3.5 / toshlink jack???

Also i take it you can plug one AE into downstairs hifi and one into upstairs hifi and stream to both aswell?

No the AE doesn't have phono outs, just the combined 3.5mm mini-jack/optical output.Yes you can stream to multiple AE units too.

im having these problems with my pc tho....

On my sound from the pc to hifi, i get terrible interference, and im not getting to the bottom of it. I dont know if its more to do with my pc or the grounding of my hifi!..

Depending on what i find, i may end up with a hardwired pc to dacmagic combo tho if sound problems are pc based...
