Hi Everybody. One question.

I have a pair of Acustic Energy AEGiS Neo 3 speakers and just recenlty have been given a Onkyo SR 606 Receiver. I do know that i have to Bi amp them, but speakers have only one set of terminalseach with one lead from every speaker.

Anyone could by anychance explain how do I hook up them to that Amp with Bi amp connection? Would i just attache another set of leads to every speaker and connect the as per manual?

Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm not sure why you think you have to biamp the stereo pair. Is there anything wrong with connecting them only to the Front Left and Front Right terminals?

There may well be a biamp alternative which a search through the manual should elicit.

Thanks for that info. I did have a look on page 17. Are u saying that, connecting those speakers to the front Left and Right would be enough?

Regards

If the speakers only have one pair of terminals each then you cannot biwire or biamp them. So just use one run of cables from the left and right output terminals, power up and enjoy your music. Be sure to set the receiver up so it is not biamping the speakers.

All right, no extra leads, stereo front left and right. I shoud have done it in a first place. Looks like i should upgrade the speakers.

Thanks again for that advise. Much appreciated !!!

Yes, that will do it, with all the other settings as standard. By all means listen to some alternative speakers, but if you are only after stereo rather than cinema sound, I'd rather keep the speakers and ditch the AV amp. You'll see various thread debating the pros and cons of that.

I'll have think obout that. Since i got it for free i'll stick to it for while. Next thing i need to get is a phono pre-amp for my record player. It's only Technics SL200 but it runs reasonably. Any suggestion for a budget say under £50?

I would suggest looking for a used Rega fono mini (the older one) or a NAD PP on eBay.

Found this with a quick search, no affiliation!

There is also a Cambridge Audio one but I've never heard it.
