Spotify Lossless

So it's finally here, 24/44.1. I see trouble for Tidal.

Why Tidal specifically? Sonos has neglected Tidal (no Connect or Atmos connection) in favour of Apple. Outside of Sonos, Tidal is very popular though, with cheaper prices and more subscribers than Qobuz. But for those not seeking true high-res, i.e. 24/96 or higher, Spotify is going to hit the....

I actually think that my spell of having Spotify and TIDAL has made me end up preferring the UI of TIDAL. I certainly have benefited from the Daily Discovery algorithm on there.

It's costing about £30 a month to have a TIDAL account and the Premium Family tier on Spotify. I could save myself £10/11 a month by cancelling TIDAL but I'm not sure. Maybe once the lossless stuff actually reaches my account I'll give Spotify's recommendations engine another shot and see if I can adapt back to their interface.

Aherm and that's record_spot if you please...!

24-bit / 44.1kHz FLAC and hopefully they'll start to roll out 88.2, 176.4 and 192kHz additions in time. Although seeing as they've taken four (or eight when the first rumours started kicking around) years to get this up and running, I'm not holding my breath. I think I'll stick with Qobuz for now though.

Hehe, this is great news for me! (Mostly as II’d given up hope.)

I didn’t noticed any UI changes in the app today. Just looked at my account & nothing to indicate steaming quality as I can see.. I’m so used to Tidal telling me whether a release is cd quality or higher, so now I want that on Spotify.

I need to look at whether selecting my Linn as a speaker in Spotify runs it at full quality or if it’s a Bluetooth connection. If it’s the former that’s even better as I can avoid using the Linn app. It’s not terrible but it’s slower & more fiddly than my nearly 20 years of using Spotify.

When can I start listening?

Lossless is rolling out gradually to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access."

Gradual rollout over the next few weeks so you may not be in the initial group @Revolutions . Go to settings and check bandwidth.
