Hello all,

Need some advice please. I've just bought a Denon AVR-1909 amp and am now looking for a suitable speaker package. Currently I have a budget of up to £300 and so was thinking of:

  • Kef KHT 1005.2
  • Jamo 102 HCS5
  • Tannoy SFX5.1

So which of these would give the best home cinema performance? I have a small(ish) lounge an space is a premium, so any choice will have to be 'compact'. The WHF review says the KEFs can sound a bit 'restrained', whereas they say the Jamos can be a bit 'bright'. I can't find a review of the Tannoys anywhere!

Any help or alternative suggestions are really welcome.

Thanks,

B.

P.s i may be able to go slightly above my budget...if it's really worth it!

Would you consider second hand? You could probably pick up a set of used Kef 2005s on eBay within your budget.

Hello Beaverme,

A great suggestion, but I'd prefer new if possible...

Many thanks.

Those tannoy's case is made of aluminium if I'n not mistaken. I guess I heard them before with an yamaha amp and they sounded very bright.

Hi Amp,

So does a 'smooth' amp and a 'bright' speaker package make for a suitable marriage? Or should i give the Tannoys a wide berth?

Thanks,

B.
