speakers or a cdp? school boy error!!

I had saved up some money to buy a new cdp but than came a relative who after listening to some music on my system offered to buy my speaker (bw cm5) for a good/modest price and I reluclantly sold them hence the school boy error.
Buying a pair of speakers can be as exciting and just as stressful so your advise is most appreciated.
I am big BW fan and love their sound but wouldn't mind looking elsewhere.
Here's what I have in mind:
Cm5 s2, pmc 21, Focal 807v
Budget is 1k
Associated gear
Creek evo 50a

Don't get more CM5s or your relative will be back to take them off you too. (Especially if he is putting together a matching 5.1 speaker system.)

He might not understand why he can't buy the new ones off you for the same favourable price as the last pair!

For the last two years I have owned the medium sized floorstanders Epos Elan 30's coupled with my Creek Evolution 5350 amp, a wonderful combination to my old ears.

The Elan range has now been followed by the K series. However, the older Elan 10 and 15 standmounts can be had now at much reduced prices. I've heard both and the rosewood finish both look and sound sublime.

How they compare with B & W I wouldn't have a clue as I've never knowingly heard a pair of B & W speakers.

I highly recommend the AVI DM5 speakers for £700. Unnaturally brilliant speakers for the price. The quality of the sound they produce has to be heard to be believed.

Top of my list would be Yamaha Ns1000m .... £1000 should get you a good pair on ebay
