Hi all
I am looking to upgrade my cd player.
Current set up:
Amp: creek evo 50a
Speakers: bw cm5 (soon to be replaced by, possibly, pmc 21)
Cdp: marantz 6004 paired with Arcam irdac.

I will keep the irdac for ipod/ipad music.
6004+irdac sounds good so I am looking for a cd player that will sound better than this combination.
I mainly listen to indian and jazz so something on the less brighter sounding Cdp would be preferable.
My budget £700-750 for an exdem or exdisplay player (I always buy xdem/xdispaly as you can get more for your money)
Thanks

The obvious choice would be its sibling CDP. If that is a little too much then the older Evo2 CDP.

Alternatively, look at Arcam. From personal experience they are a cracking match. Might also be worth auditioning Rega Apollo-R.

Just as a left-field after thought: How about adding a Dac to your Marantz, Arcam rDac or perhaps Rega Dac.

Thanks Pp,
I already have irdac connected to my cd player, as I said I am keeping the irdac for ipod, just want to buy a Cdp which will be an upgrade from my current set up.
Evo 50cd is a little over budget.

Yes the Creek 50CD is the obvious answer but they are nearly a £1000. You can pick up new Audiolab 8200CDQ for £545 from both Lintone Audio and Moorgate Acoustics at the moment on Ebay. That's a considerable saving on the RRP of £999. You could use the balanced outputs with your 50A.

As PP suggests, arcam cds27. £799 or less. Higher spec DAC than irDAC, TI/BurrBrown 1794 plus SACD and networking via ethernet. Looking forward to a review.
