Hello HiFi community.

I'm looking for help with choosing the right speakers. I know that this not ideal for superb sound quality and some of you probably will start itching just thinking about putting speakers inside this cabinet. This solid wooden cabinet with a marble plate on top, is very solid and heavy. The "grill" on the doors is high quality speaker grill material. The sizes of the space for the speakers on both sides is (HxWxD) 70x38x43 (27"x15"17").

Any recommendations regarding what type of speakers will be most suitable for this situation, will be highly appreciated. What would you buy and why?

Price range is somewhere up to 4000 USD approx!

I have the Yamaha RN-1000A Amplifier and Technics SL1200 Mk2 Turntable.

Hope to hear from some you soon!

Perhaps some idea as to your budget might help......
Obviously they would need to be some type of standmounts but they aren't going to sound their best that low down.

That's a good point ... I'm willing to spend somewhere up to 4000 USD on speakers. I'm aware of my limitations inside these doors, but that's my reality! 🙂

Any info/help would be great!!!

Much cheaper, some of the Klipsch standmounts, like the RP 600M mk2 would fit in there.
No point on spending more on speakers that cannot be placed ideally I suggest.
There are more expensive speakers designed to actually work on bookshelves but they need height.

Welcome to the forum. Whilst it’s a lovely piece of furniture, there are no speakers I can think of that would be expected to be mounted inside a wooden box, however rigid it might be. Any lower frequencies will make the entire cabinet thrum at various pitches, and the treble sounds will be too near the floor.

You obviously want discreet looks but I think you’d be better with small speakers up on the wall than almost anything inside, unless you just want background music when you may as well use an all in one, like a Naim Muso on the top of the cabinet.

Neat Iota are excellent, tiny and will work on the wall. Epos ES-7N are designed to work close to boundaries, in this case, inside the cabinet. They could go on isolating supports to raise them. However, almost anything *might* work, so you really need a dealer willing to let you try their demo stock in situ, as nobody can predict with any certainty how it might turn out.

I'm guessing your "REALITY" is a female and will not allow either side of your furniture to be flanked by a pair of speakers....I think I'd try some negotiation skills and persuasive bribery or emotional blackmail.🤣🤣🤣.
The reality is, no speaker is going to sound anything like it's best in that situation unfortunately.

Hi Omar, you have good hifi amp and turntable and nice wooden cabinet. But any idea like "put speakers inside these wooden cabinet" is foolish and killing your system, sapuka in Samuray's life. Pls. do not do it. Your speakers, some nice sensitive bookshelfs can be placed on top of the cabinet, on its sides. When using high quality vibrapods between speakers and cabinet (or similar), to control vibrations of speakers, you will hardly experience some skipping of turntable. Tip with small Klipsch 2way bookshelfs is a good start for your system. I will personaly advice some speakers with bass reflex on the front of speakers, like Triangle, Focal... Yamaha is a bit like older Electrocompanient amps. Speaker with higher sensitivity will be a winner here. The best of course is to try yourself before purchasing. BR.

I know what I would do if I was "forced" into that compromise.
a pair of ATC SCM7 or 11's mounted on isoacoustic isolators.
of course it'll not sound optimum, but it'll stil sound good at moderate volumes.
it'll not be true hifi, but you will get a nice crisp sound at relative volumes.
the ATC is sealed box / infinite baffle so thats where to begin !
keep us informed

I did warn you 😀

I have two small speakers inside an Ikea Kallax unit. Not my main speakers but they sound entirely great, no issues 😉

My bro in Switzerland has small ATC’s on a book shelf. Again, not main speakers, again no problems.

Occasionally, domestic bliss has to over ride audiophile angst.

I'd look at something with a waveguide for the tweeter, rather than just being flush mounted to the speaker cabinet which will likely bring the cabinet into play. A waveguide will help higher frequencies clear the cabinet and avoid any major reflection/diffraction.
Tilt the speakers back a little too, in order to try and get the higher frequencies more on axis at your listening position.
Ideally a sealed cabinet or passive radiator design, or front ported. Avoid rear ports unless you're going to plug them with supplied foam bungs. Rear slot ports generally work better in awkward spaces compared to normal circular ports. Depending which you go for, consider maybe placing some Rockwool in and around the speaker to absorb bass energy generated by its position in the cabinet.
Whatever you end up going for, use quality isolation feet, regardless of how well built or sturdy the cabinet is - every cabinet will have a resonant frequency, it's unavoidable. So decouple the speakers from the cabinet. ISOacoustics Aperta will be the best to use, as these will isolate, and allow you to tilt the speaker back.

Why do you need to put it inside the cabinet, which will compromise the sound greatly, why not place it on the top.
The Monitor Audio Gold bookshelf will sound great and also visual candy for your missus.
The cost of those will be approx. less than half of your allocated budget, you may consider also a streamer dac as an additional source?

any speaker on top , although again not ideal, would be better than ones inside.
