Speaker Positions for surround sound

Hi there,

I have the Q Acoustics Q7000 5.1 package and would really appreciate some help with getting the positioning correct.

The room is 12 foot by 24 foot and the Panasonic GT30 50" sits in the centre at one of the short ends. We have seats at the other end of the room.

We have seating for three people on both long sides, but it is only used when visitors come.

I intend to make some "floating" wooden brackets to hold the speakers. Can anyone please suggest a height from the floor and also the distance in from the wall?

Probably this was not the best place for you to post this, check out a link to the Dolby website for Home Theater Speaker Guide Clicky if this does not suit then try the THX website Clicky. They both have suggestions for speaker placement on there websites i believe.
