Speaker impedance

ADVICE NEEDED.

Can you mix the impedace of speakers in a 5.1 surround speaker system. At the moment my whole system is 4ohm but I would like to change the centre speker for a mordaut short ms 304 if possible, which is an 8ohm speaker. Is it possible and what difference would the different inpedance make. My amp is a Sony str-da 5200es.

I'd always stick to the same manufacturer's speakers in a 5.1 set up - are your others Mordaunt Short?

it should be no problem for an amplifier with 4 ohm output to drive 8 ohm speaker

Thanks for the help guys, yes my other speakers are mordaunt short just a different impedance.
