Hi all. I'm new here and I'm looking for a little advice please.
I have a Denon pma-300v amp and a dual cs 503- 1 turntable. This has all been resurrected from my attic as has my record collection. I now need speakers, cheap speaker. I'm happy with second hand or vintage. Its a small cluttered room floor space of 10sqm. I will be listening to Genesis and reggae mostly quietly!!
Any help/advice appreciated. I have been looking at stuff like this; Denon/Mission SC-M101; Vintage Bose 205 compact Speakers.

Regards Kevin

Those little Mission-designed Denons are decent. Buying thriftily and secondhand needn’t mean getting junk, as many folks sell cheap especially if they cannot post - often due to no packaging.

Facebook marketplace has bargains as long you can spot genuine ads. At least travel close to home and see them playing before handing over money. Or you’ll find all sorts on eBay, or maybe you’ve a local secondhand dealer?

New, if £99 is in budget, you can get Wharfedale Diamonds 9.0 with a warranty from Richer Sounds and doubtless other stores too.

Thank you for the reply. My only reason for not wanting to spend a lot is the amount of time I will get to use them. I have a set of technics but the have 4 wires rather than 2 which I need for the Denon amp.

Also the Denon/mission speakers all seem to be 6ohm, is that not a problem wit an 8ohm amp??

I had the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 for a few years and they are very good speakers.

No, no problem at all. If you stick around you’ll discover that impedance specs on speakers are nominal, meaning the actual number is higher or lower at particular frequencies, but with music it’s rarely an issue.

If you can post a picture of the Technics speakers they might work too. The ‘4 wires’ invariably means a simple link can enable connection to a two core cable.

These are the images of the back of my technic speaker with the 4 cables. Can there be wired to the amp with only 2 ports?

Mission 701 regularly sell on ebay for £50 to £100, they sound amazing for the money, easy to pair and very forgiving about where you place them. The only downside they are large for the bookshelf/stand mount speakers. The later M71 also sound great, and are smaller, but aren't as forgiving over placement. They sell for similar money.
