I recently upgraded my Amp (from STR DG820, so my bro could have the older model), to the Sony STR DH810 and am having some audio set-up issues - I hope someone out there can help.
I have HDMI output to Sony KDL 32W5500. I have 4 HDMI inputs from:
HDMI 1 = Sky+ HD (with sound connected via optical input to SAT OPT) v.assiged to SAT/CATV
HDMI 2 = Blu Ray (Sony BDP360) v.assigned to BD
HDMI 3 = Xbox 360 v.assigned to v.assigned to Video 1
HDMI 4 = connection to laptop v.assigned to Video 2
Now here is the issue:
If I press SAT/CATV I get HDMI video from Sky HD and Dolby surround from theSAT OPT - Good.
However, if I press the BD button, I see the picture from the HDMI but don't hear the sound from the HDMI. I only hear the sound if I press HDMI 2. I can not assign HDMI sound to the BD button.
This wouldn't be so bad, having to use the HDMI 1-4 buttons instead of the BD or SAT/CATV or VIDEO 1 or Video 2 buttons, however, if I were to use the HDMI 1 button for the Sky+ HD, I don't get the SAT OPT option, so I don't get the dolby surround sound (since the Sky+ HD box doesn't outpt dolby via HDMI - go figure!).
So I have to use SAT/CATV for Sky+HD, HDMI 2 for Blu Ray and HDMI 3 and 4 for Xbox and laptop respectively.
This is where I need help - How do I assign the HDMI as the audio input so I can use the BD button, and video 1 and video 2 button?....Or how do I assign the SAT OPT audio to the HDMI 1 button, so I just use the HDMI buttons.......it's not so bad for me to remember what to do, but my wife doesn't stand a chance of remembering. It just seems like a massive step backwards to not be able to hear the sound from an HDMI connected appliances from the actual button assigned to that particular appliance.
On my old DG820, I could have the SAT/CATV button to have HDMI video and SAT OPT sound from Sky+ HD, I could have the BD button have HDMI video and sound, and likewise for the other inputs.....so it as easy - each button on the remote behaved as it is meant to and labelled as..
This is a liitle frustrating - can anyone out there help? Am I just being stupid?
