Sony STR-DA2400ES - broken

My Sony STR-DA2400ES broke yesterday, 3 days out of 12 month warranty .

Suddenly whilst waching a DVD the picture went blank on the TV.

I can no longer get any video though HDMI, not even the amps menu.

Nothing through Component either.

Audio is fine.

Taken it back to Superfi today, they will have a look and contact Sony.

They said unfortunately as it was out of warranty I would probably have to pay for the repair.

Has anyone had this HDMI issue with this amp.

That's nonsense, stick to your guns and refuse any charges, 3 days past the warranty is not an acceptable lifespan, use the Sale of Goods Act and threaten them with the Trading Standards, they'll back down.

Hello mate,

I have this amp and love it, sounds great especially through my mezzo 6's. But I have an occasional problem but think it's my TV. A while ago I updated the firmware of the TV and since then occasionally I get no picture, about once a month. I get snow on the screen, like when you used to watch old analog TVs and it wasn't quite tuned in and flickers on and off. If I just turn the amp off and unplug it from the mains and plug it back in the problem is solved. Thinking logically about it it's almost as if there's some sort of static problem, but I can't get in there to check properly because I'm disabled. But anyway have you tried resetting the amp, it tells you in the manual and it's a sequence of several buttons I think.

I hope some of this helps in any way.

nonsense. why is it Sony always try those tactics u only 3 days out it's not like you are a month out!! I had a problem with them with my Bravia. Got it sorted in the end.

Sorry but it isn't Sony you need to blame. THE RETAILER IS RESPONSIBLE.
