Sony or Pioneer

I got a problem with updating my AV system. At the moment I am using Sony BDP-S5000ES, the speaker package Monitor Audio Silver RX6 AV12 and a very old Sony Amplifier. So, I am thinking to buy a new AV Receiver, which will go with my ‘’old’’ Blu-ray and speakers. I found two possible Receivers - Sony STR-DA5600ES and Pioneer SC-LX83. When I was looking though forums and magazines, I have found almost none reviews for Sony, but very good reviews for Pioneer. Should I prefer a Sony or go for Pioneer?

If anybody has a hint, it would be very helpful.

Thanks

Greetings from Slovenia

The Pioneer is excellent and will work a treat with your Sony BD player. I can't comment on the Sony receiver as we haven't tested it yet, but there's no harm in mixing and matching components from different manufacturers (in fact it's something we positively encourage).

Thank you for your quick reply. I am just curious, will the Pioneer also work well with my speaker package? Is there any chance that you will be also testing the new Sony model? I hope I am not asking too many questions.

Thanks

Wouldnt count on it ! I had the same question ages ago - I have the da5400es ( two, yes , two What Hi Fi, years old ).

They have not got a model in to test at the premium price range since. Which, I too ( and yes they know ) have found odd ? Especially as my amp was their Product of the Year £1500 + 2009 and why I bought it. It stayed in the recommended buys at that price point for quite a while too.

Despite my pestering questions to review the 2010 and now 2011 models to see how things have moved forward we still have no idea ? Which is odd as they have a good relationship with Eric - the UK Sony main man.

Guess they have just fallen from the wayside and have gone a bit poop. Pioneer all the way from what I have read.

The next time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I imply, I know it was my choice to learn, but I really thought youd have something attention-grabbing to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you would fix should you werent too busy on the lookout for attention.
