Ok you can change picture setting's when the blu- ray player is not on.I'm assuming that you do not have a sony blu-ray player. If your not then you can't use the bravia sync function.you can set the picture up to each input.Have a play around with the setting's to see what work's best for you.Hope this helps. And yes im all good thanks.

Hi mate

Glad all is well. Thumbs up. Nope, no Sony blu-ray player, i did buy one the other day but decided it was not for me and sent it back, "unused" i might just add, but anyway the Sony bravia sync function - i will have a look at it. Any chance of some instructions on exactly how to do it mate? My Pioneer BDP-LX71 is currently rotating between my tvs. Big Smile.

Cheers mate.

Hi F1,the blu-ray versions i purchased were the new remastered box set from a few months ago,and not the single blu-ray versions.I saw big improvements over the directors cuts that i had on dvd(traded the dvd versions in at cex).Ive still got the first two film's on Hd-dvd as well and just had a look at them, they still impress me as well.Think they used the Vc-1 codec on the hd-dvd versions(but with dd+ sound). And gel Get your tv remote And go to display settings picture mode needs to be custom then have a play with the settings.Im not going to post my setting's as i have dome before,as this tends to get some people posting bad comments, and i really can't be bothered with all the negative comment's that follow.all i will say is play around with the setting's that work for you.Have fun playing.

It is very confusing to figure out what the different terms means, especially since these are not standardised between the different manufacturers. I was particularly amused to learn about Sony's 200 Hz Pro system. Basically this means, compared to the 'old' 200 Hz definition, that two of three interpolated pictures are replaced with a black screen :D This is often referred to as 'scanning backlight' but I do not remember which term Sony use. It does make a quite significant impact on the perceived response rate of a LCD screen though, and I would prefer a picture only with scanning backlight and no interpolation (but often you cannot get that, it is either both or nothing).

I havent been able to figure out what this new XR implies, but I will assume it also involves scanning backlight.

Hi mate

I've sorted it - cheers mate. Thumbs up. Yeah, i still have the settings from last time mate, so no need - also i printed them out. Thumbs up. Yeah, don't worry about the negative comments we all get them from time to time from different members, i do remember what you are talking about and i thought your advice was great, and it really made me laugh too. The way you said is also the way i like to sort my picture out.

Cheers mate - excellent.

This process is often referred to as 'scanning backlight', but I do not remember which term Sony use. This technique however do have a remarkable impact on the perceived response rate of an LCD panel, and I would prefer only scanning backlight with no interpolation (but often you can only get both or none of them).

I haven't been able to figure out what the XR technology is about but will assume it also includes the use of scanning backlight.

I'm sure some components must be manufactured in Japan; besides, Sony's R&D is based in Japan. Deadlines to release a product would be the last thing on the minds of Sony bosses when their country has suffered a massive calamity.

BigBoss,

you may be right, and yes i'm sure that release dates would be the last thing on their minds and i feel for them deeply, but surely thats cutting it a bit tight?, they would have had everything needed in europe long before now, certainly before the disaster as the tv was due originally mid April.

i visited showroom yesterday to figure out wheather this motionflowXR works or not, the two models i compared were W700c and W800c the W700c has a clear resolution enhancer processor with motionflowXR 200 whereas W800c has a XrealityPRO processor with motionflowXR 800.

here i would like to say that X-RealityPRO has definately got an edge over clear resolution enhancer whereas motionflowXR can be seen playing a role making the picture flow more smoother and lag free at high speeds. the difference is small yet noticeable when compared side by side. W800c is a clear winner.
