I feel ready to finally take the plunge and buy a flat screen TV to replace my Sony CRT. I was wondering when we can expect to see a review of the Sony HX903 in WHSV?

I've contacted around 10 Sony Centres and they all said they won't have any on display until the launch in June.

Many thanks!

That suggests we won't have a sample until about the same time.

Any news on the Sony EX43B? Considering their efforts in budget TV and Bluray, I am very interested in this all-in-one effort. Especially with the addition of Freeview HD, LoveFilm online rental and Catch-up TV.

It looks like the Sony KDL-52HX903 has finally been released. But I only seem to able to find it for sale at a few retailers. Can anyone tell me what the RRP is. Its alot more expensive than I hoped.

Also I don't seem to be able to find a WHSV review of it.

Sony have messed with the HX903 prices in the last week or so with most seeing an upward price hike.

46" remains at £2600 I think

52" went up from £3000 to £3500

60" went up from £3500 to £4500

If you pre-ordered at the lower prices then you should still get it. Seems completely out of order to me.

We've a First Test of the KDL-46HX903 in the September issue (on sale next Tuesday). The review's at a price of £2500, not including £60 for a 3D transmitter or £100 per pair of specs.

Yeah sorry 46HX903 is £2500. I was quoted £2600 for the TV + transmitter (normally £50) and 2 pairs of glasses when haggling - which confused my recollection of the price. Still too much for me and I've gone for a 46HX803 from another retailer. (£2150 including 2 pairs of glasses, transmitter and BDP-S470 3D Bluray player - not so bad considering the RRP of the TV alone is £2200).

Simon - Any idea when Sony will actually be releasing these sets for general sale, as I've heard dates ranging from mid-August to October. I've ordered a 46" set myself through a high street chain so wondered when I might expect it.

Simon Lucas:I'm given to understand they're available from the first week of August.

Great Thanks Simon, I was hoping that would be the case. Looking forward to seeing the review, just hope I won't be dissapointed......roll on Tuesday!

I was close to pre-ordering this (46hx903) about 3 months ago on line, the price for the 46" then was £2250. They are gonna price themselves out of the market. I plumped for the Samsung 46c8000 and have been delighted with it, Got it for £2050 inluding 3d bluray player, 2 pairs of glasses ,monsters v aliens ,2 years 0% finance and a 5 year warranty, and it looks great on the wall !!

Well done, that is a good deal, I've ordered my HX903, and got it for £2200, so at the moment think I've got a good deal, although still have to do some more negotiating on the transmitter, Blu-Ray player and Glasses!!

You got a good deal, and you will be one of the first to get it as well. I had to wait 10 weeks for the Samsung, that was bad enough, was starting to pull my hair out and ringing em so they would get fed up with me . You will find it well worth the wait,3D gaming is just superb!!

not really a straight comparison though. Samsung C8000 is an edge lit with local dimming. Fairer comparison to that would be the Sony 40/46HX803 which is also edge lit with local dimming. Samsung do not have a full rear local dimming set available this year I don't think.

isnt the hx903 just an edge lit , 200hz 3d ready set ?? i thought the lx range is the rear led one with local dimming ?

nope LX is just Edge Lit, although has all 3D related stuff integrated, however HX903 is the full LED set.

No LX903 is edge lit, integrated 3d - the HX903 is rear LED but only 3D ready (needs transmitter). (NB: HX803 is Edge Lit with local dimming - so a step above LX903 range - though it doesn't have the monolithic design).

I don't know how Sony expect to shift 3DTVs when the ranges appear to be designed to confuse and confound :)

i could not justify an extra £800 for full dimming ,not when the picture is so good on the Samsung with local dimming, the samsung is also much better looking than the HX803 , and i guess i bought the deal as well as the T.V,

hI michael, i purchased it from Bentalls in Kingston.
