sony bdps300... will it play most discs with updated firmware?

hi folks,

Been offered one of these players for peanuts and was thinking of throwing it in the bedroom.. i know the first gen of blu-ray players were really slow to load discs.. i wouldnt mind that so much, but would there be compatibility issues with newer discs that it wouldnt play or have firmware updates kept pace?

Probably, but there's no guarantee that the manufacturer will support the player with future firmware updates.
