Sony 40w4500 picture problems

Hi all,

I bought a 40w4500 around 15 months ago & noticed some issues with the picture starting around 6 months ago....

To begin with, I noticed that a 'ghost' was left on the screen when a white image left a dark screen - this was particualry apparent when viewing a high quality image (Lost on Blu-ray being an example).

Recently, the prblems seems to be worsening & when there are a lot of contrasting colours amongst a lot of movement, the overall picture looks like it's got a cloudy film overlayed.......

I've Googled the issue, but have picked up a myriad of issues, none of which seem to quite match with my experience....

Can anyone help or guide me?

Sorry, got the same model of similar vintage but nothing like you describe. Mind you ours probably only gets 14 hours use per week which I guess is on the low side and mostly for DVD/BD so little broadcast content. Will pay extra attention to the types of scene you describe and report back if I can replicate the effect.

Just a thought, what is your backlight setting?
