Sonus Faber Venere 2.5...what I think about those

If you can persuade the SF rep to leave a pair with you to try, let us know what you think.........and it does have to gel with your other products.

In theory, they should be very good.

I do think SF will be a great addition to HiFi Lounge's portfolio I have to say, I am a big PMC enthusiast but I feel if I could offer something as an alternative that has a different presentation then that would make sense and I feel SF could be that brand, I've got the rep coming in next week, so that should be interesting.

For anyone who hasn't seen the 5 star review in HiFi Choice this month you can now read it direct from absolute sounds website, it sounds like the perform as good as they look

I have had a pair of Venere 2.5 speakers for a few months now and have so say I love the sound. They are linked up to Cyrus x power amps and Dac xp+. The base is deep and tonal and treble is clean and the whole sound is airy and involing. My room has a wooden floor so I have put the speakers on granet slabs (b& q £4.00each) to control the base. They look good to! :rockout:

Cyrus and SF looks like an odd combination on paper, but I've done it myself and it just works. I had the SF Venere 1.5s running off one X Power and really enjoyed the sound.

Well, the "had" actually referred to the retirement of the Cyrus and its replacement by the Peachtree.

However, having failed as yet to sell the Cremonas, I am indeed now thinking of keeping them and selling the Veneres. We've been toing and froing about moving house, and last week we had an offer accepted on a house. It may well come to nothing, of course. The house has a lovely big living room, 5.5 x 7.5m, with plenty of space for the MLs, but Mrs 49 really doesn't like the look of them, so I'm thinking the MLs wil be in my den (nice!) and the Cremonas will look glamorous in the living room.

Yes, a nice compromise, but an expensive one. On the other hand, when you roll these things up into the cost of moving house, they seem altogether less costly.

I had a couple of bites for the Cremonas a week or two ago, but no fish supper. I must say, I haven't pushed them very hard. I think one issue is that between their release (2009?) and now, the price of the Cremonas rose very steeply. So while they're very nice speakers and make beautiful sounds (within certain constraints), they might not look like very good VFM.

Had the Venere 2.0's and returned it because I did not enjoy the sound. Midrange was recessed, treble was lacking extension, a lot of sibilance, and bass was not deep enough. Overall, it was dark sounding that lacked excitement and prefered classical and jazz overall anything else.

I did audition the Venere 2.5 at the Hifi lounge but did not like them at all. I had the same experience as above. Was not sure if the pair I listened to was not run in properly but I actually prefered the Sonus faber toy to the more expensive Venere 2.5. Just thought the bass was too dry, & really lacked depth.
