Just bought an Onkyo TX-SR308 and Boston Accoustics Soundware 5.1 settup. Spent the afternoon mounting speakers, running speaker cables, sub cable, connecting HDMI's to PS3, Freesat and TV. Just tried a BlueRay through my PS3 and im only getting sound through the front left & right speakers? Tried everything and i cant get anything through the rears or sub

Is the PS3 set to output surround??

Is the amp set to decode surround??

I assume you have run the calibration and sound does come out of all the speakers then??

How is the PS3 connected to the amp/TV??

(1) Yes, PS3 set to output 5.1
(2) Its fully connected via HDMI cables, screen on ONKYO says HDMI, B speakers and PCM. Have tried various settings with no luck, im still getting stereo.
(3) "the calibration".... i cannot find a test facility on the amp.
(4) PS3 is connected via HDMI

Don't know the amp at all - but 'B' speakers doesn't sound right. Sounds like those are additional ones for 7.1 or a second zone stereo.

Is there an 'A' setting? and if so make sure you're speaker cables are plugged into the correct terminals...

Yes that was my thought, the "B" speakers are for a different room or zone, so will probably disable the other speakers when in use.

Have just checked out the spec. I'm fairly sure the front L&R are (wrongly) wired to the B connections - and B is only stereo. Switch to A and plug the front L&R speakers into the correct terminals...

Oh I see what you've done, only the A terminals have proper speaker posts, all the rest are spring clips, including the B speakers, so you've just used all the spring clip terminals, which is understandable, take the B speakers out and wire them into the big terminals to the left of the surround connectors. Then switch the amp to "A" speakers.

Indeed.

As per page 12 of the manual - wire as per left hand diagram.

Doh, your right guys. Just swapped the A & B speaker cables over.

Which would explain why my BR1's were working when i selected A.......DOH !!!!

I just assumed the speaker posts were for my BR1's and the spring posts were for the 5.1..... oh how wrong i was. Iam a bloke and i do not read instruction books!!

Probably the easiest mistake to make mate. With all the other connections - despite the vast number of 'em - if it doesn't fit, it doesn't go there. But with speaker terminals...

Enjoy. Glad I could help.
