Small 2.1 Systems Advice

I'm looking for a small 2.1 setup to partner my new Cambridge Audio Azur 340R, budget of arounf £500 (depends on how much I can flog an old CD player and two R/C cars for). I was going to get a pair of the Cambridge Audio S30 speakers, but I really need to wall mount what ever I get, firstly to fit in with the wonky room layout and secondly to be out of reach of young fingers. My only worry with the S30's is that they're quite deep for a small speaker, especially with the amount of space I have to fit them into.

I found the Anthony Gallo Nucleus Micro's after they were mentioned in another post on here and look like they will fit the bill perfectly. Not wanting to paste myself into a corner, what other small satellite like speakers should I also look at...? I see there are B&W M-1's that look like they are a similar price if bought separately, are all these small speakers much of a muchness...?

I think I can get two small wall mounted speakers and a small sub past the wife, anything larger than and S30 is out of the question. I also like the fact that I can buy two of these things and then when funds allow, buy another three to get a 5.1 setup.

Any suggestions about what I should be looking at would be appreciated.

Cheers,

The problem I have is that my room has obstacles on all four walls that preclude the use of big boxes, especially behind the sofa, as it's right up against the wall. That's why I'm thinking of 2.1, as then I don't have to figure out a way of getting cables round two doors or a fireplace. The real problem is that space I have available for wall mounting the front left speaker, as the main window in the living room is right up against the left wall, so there's not a lot of room above it before you're into the coving and the ceiling.

That's why I was seriously thinking of the Anothny Gallo's, as you can get wall mounts and they would easily fit. Having said that, I'm assuming that two of these Q Acoustics and their sub would sound better than a pair of Cambridge Audio S30's and matching sub...?

Cheers,

Bob.

Why have none of you mentioned the almost microscopic Tangent Evo5 speaker and Evo E8 sub combo?

Small and attractive (avail. in many gloss colours) and not so musical that you will betray audiophiles by wall-mounting, and the sub is also teeny enough to slide into any space you can find!

I know this is prob a dead thread now but just thought I could be of some use! (first post woohoo!!)
