Sky HD remote

Hi Guys, I got back from work yesterday only for the wife to moan that the Sky remote was working intermittently. I then changed the batteries and reboot the box which did not resolve the problem. I then tried my old Sky+ remote and this worked with no hiccups whatsoever. A call to Sky on an 0844 number and 10 minutes later it was diagnosed as faulty but sky however informed me that:

Using the old Sky+ remote will damage the Sky HD box. Does anyone know how much truth there is in this as I may have to fork out for another 4 remotes and do not want to do if it isn't necessary?

Do you know if the existing silver HD remote is compatible with the new 1TB box? (and if you do , is it?)

No idea TBH,as i haven't had the opportunity to have a play with a 1TB yet. Though i'd be surprised if they have revised the IR codes for the new boxes.
