Simple questions for starting out

I am looking at purchasing a projector around christmas this year. Being new to this I would appreciate some simple advice and am looking for an "idiots guide to projectors and projector screens" any links?

2 really stupid questions in particular

1. Can you, if you wanted to, watch them in daylight?

2. Does the projector have to be the same height as the screen or can it be angled?

Please do not flame me for my technical ineptitude, you have to start somewhere!

Yes, they can be watched in daylight but, the brighter the room the less detail and contrast you will see in the picture.

They do not have to be at a perfect 90 degrees to the screen, most have a 'keystone' adjustment which will re align the picture as necessary although it is better to mount the projector to keep this distortion to a minimum.
