Should the blue ray player be from the same manufacturer as the TV ?

I have just got a Panasonic plasma (46g15 model) and was thinking of the pioneer 320 or a Sony blue ray player. But does it make sense to stick with a Panasonic player ? Obviously makes life easy with one less remote but I was thinking of whether the compatible technologies between the Tv and blue ray player from one manufacturer are advantageous ? Any advice views appreciated. Thanks

Apart from the possible advantage of dual functionality of the remote I can't think of any other reason to buy the same brand, apart from perhaps brand loyalty.

I personally use a Harmony remote which has many more advantages than Viera link or Sony Bravia Sync.
