I am just trying to balance the scales. The LS50s get overrated reviews. Newbies to this hobby can be fooled into buying them unheard. I am trying to advance a counter argument to the LS50 mania.

People should audition speakers before they buy them, don't believe the hype or reviews.

That's a step towards positivity, but the best way to 'balance the scales' would be to suggest which speaker(s), in your opinion, are worth comparing with the LS50s around the same price.

I agree that ideally people should audition speakers, but sometimes that is easier said than done, and the only audition that really provides anything useful is at home in the listener's own system and listening environment, over a period of a few days rather than a one hour demo.
