Setting up a DLNA network

Hi
I need some help to set up my pc(windows xp) to send music to my receiver using DLNA. I dont have a router but just the PC and an ethernet cable.

Im not very wise to computer and IT language so please explain it as simple as possible.

Please help

You will need a router. Plug the PC and the receiver into the router with ethernet cables.

What format is your music in - mp3, flac etc?

This will determine what software you need to use.

Not strictly true. You can join two things together with a crossover ethernet cable and they ought to see each other, networkly speaking. But I agree, a hub or router is probably more versatile. How do you connect to the internet? Straight from modem to ethernet port?

What's your music player? You can set Windows media player to be a DLNA server:

1. Click the arrow below the Library, and then click Media Sharing.

2. In the Media Sharing dialog box, select the Share my media check box.

If it's iTunes, hmm...
