last nite i put on dvd and fell asleep on the sofa

when i awoke severel hours later the dvd had finished and turned off as there wasnt a menu on the disc it had the big dvd logo on the middle of the screen turned on sky and the logo was still there but after a few minutes it was gone

so is this screen burn a myth or not only had my tv bout 3 weeks so if im out of my 200 hours burn in period its only just.

You had a bit of image retention thats all. If the logo went after a few mins of normal viewing then it's not somthing to worry about.

Yes screen burn is possible but it would take some serious abuse for this to happen.

Has your tv not got an auto stand by function ? My Pany plasma has a feature that turns off the tv after a set time if theres a static image.

Or failing that use yor tv's timer function if your watching late at night incase you fall asleep. I hate to think how many times I've done this with my old crt.

Also make sure if your DVD player has a screen saver function that this is turned on. But the highly spiced weasel is correct - it's only temporary image retention.
