Hi guys, I have a 5 month old Panasonic TH46PZ80B which i have noticed has got faint screen burn from Sky News banners and Disney channel.

Surely this is not correct for a new TV, I have a TH37PX500 for 3 years prior with no burn issuea at all.

Can anyone advise if this can be claimed for under the manfacturers warranty? I should i now chuck it in the skip!!!!!

 Any advice is appreciated.

Are you sure that it is screen burn and not image retention? Try leaving it turned on overnight playing "snow" hopefully this will cure it and may even cure if the image is burned.

As a word of warning, are your brightness and contrast set quite high? Plasma's are so well designed now that IR is becoming very much a thing of the past.

Your operating instructions no doubt advises against displaying a still picture eg. Programme number and other logos which could cause images to remain on screen "image retention" This is not considered a malfunction and is not covered by warranty.

You could try "washing screen" by feeding it snow signal for a while which if its only retention as opposed to burn should clear it.

Good luck

Thanks guys, can I assume then that "washing screen" does not have any nasty side effects?

Cant say Jim but as southdown said try o'night or if you want to be hands on if your worried try it for a couple of hours then see how it goes. You say it's faint so hopefully just a few hours will do it. I'm only talking from knowledge gained here as I've only had my Plasma for 2 weeks and hopefully won't have your problem.
