Does anyone know anything about this new 3D Plasma from Samsung?

It appears on the German Samsung website at €2,049.00 which is competitive with the Panasonic TX-P50VT30 3D Plasma that I am also interested in.

So I was wondering if the WHF staff/Forum users knew if this particular TV is destined all over Europe for 2011 or not... Thank you.

Anyone???

Surprised no one has any ideas. Esp. as the Samsung Plasma 8090 is part of the new 8 Series range and features all the latest Samsung Smart TV tech...

Hi,

Seems you know more than most of us...

Cofnchtr,

I was hoping it would be the other way around with the WHF team telling me what's what with this rather elegant Samsung 8 Series Plasma.

I just make it a habit to look at whatever product I'm interested in (and it's direct competitors) in a few different markets (US, DE) to see if something new/better is on the horizon and we still have a previous design language that will soon be updated. Different markets have different launch dates for the same products sometimes. That's how I happened to find this model. I hate to buy something new just to find that it's already old!

Now I'm curious to learn more about it. I did read somewhere (just now I googled the model name/number) that it is due in May 2011. So my £$€'s have to battle between this and the Panasonic TX-P50VT30 for the living room TV hotspot this summer!

Any other contenders???

Regards,

T.

Hi,

TnA200 - I'd only check TV's relevant to the market in which you are buying - a feature may be on a TV in one region but not another.

The WHFS&V team can only comment on sets they have reviewed - a few snippets of inside knowledge would, I'm sure, be shared if possible. Better for them not to speculate though...

In this category, whatever you buy today is already 'old'. Buy the best you can for the moment - when you next replace the TV you can catch up with the ever advancing technology. Till the next update...

Hi,

I saw this Plasma at the Samsung Trade Launch back in Mid March and it is exact design of the now end of line C8000 LED TV's, slim depth 35mm approx, Freesat HD and Freeview HD tuners, Smart Hub + Web Browser, PVR functions via USB, it comes supplied with the Samsung Touch Screen remote and willl also be available in 59" as well RRP £1699? (or something very similar).

Hope this helps you, and just to let you know the Performance was awesome. Should also be coming into stock across stores anytime now.

Indeed. If you google the model number it's already available, from £1,550 to £1,750 depending on which retailer you prefer. I'm not sure if that's pre order or if it's possible to audition the TV yet, however.

The UK model is the PS51D8000 which can be found online and in stock for £1699 HERE with 3 year warrantry. The design to me looks just like last years C7000 model.

hi, people..
i was looking for a new (2011) plasma and i chose Panasonic TX-P55VT30, (here in portugal we don't get 50'' yet!!!) ! i saw, i tested bouth and in the end i chose Panasonic. This new model got some of pionieer kuro tecnology,i am satisfied with my choice... the samsung is very good also, we can't see so many differences between these two models ..
thanks!

Bruno, thanks for the information.

Certainly makes choosing easier if someone has done a bit of testing too of the same models that are on my shortlist.

Cheers,

TnA

In general I think there is way too much focus on Samsung LED/LCD screens (both from consumers and Samsung marketing) and virtually no focus on their plasma screens, which in my opinion is far superior!

But I do in general prefer plasma.
