To each their own.

I like the F8500's stand and bezel, while I find Panasonic's styling prosaic (albeit less so than in years past). I also don't like the "V" stand on 2013 Panasonic plasmas. Where do you hide the cabling?

I don't like the VT50's "aluminium" strip on the bezel, it looks like cheap plastic to me, and if it looks like plastic, it might as well be plastic. The stand on the other hand I think looks quite classy.

Where do you hide the cables ? You can't really. The mains cable isnt really an issue as it's in the middle and can be disguised by the stand , but the HDMI cable is way out left, and not ideal. It doesnt bother me much to be honest, and I'm sure if it did a longer cable would allow you to tape it to the back of the panel and run it behind the stand.

Blimey, thats a cracking price to start with if it's as good as they say and Panasonic have resolved all the issues the previous Plasma's had

This can't be bad too:

Yes, just read that review. Apparently, an excellent TV but the Panasonic edges it on performance:

Looks like it's going to be the best year ever for TVs, especially Plasma TVs.

It's a shame that Samsung are only selling this in 51" and 64" screen sizes in the UK, what's happened to everything in-between!

All in all a very good tv then but it would be great to see a supertest in a future edition of the magazine between this and the comparable Panasonic offering which I presume will be the GT60 or VT60?

I'm in the market for a 50 or 55 inch tv myself this year but I don't think I would go back to plasma simply because I'm a gamer and have issues in the past because of it so with a heavy heart it will be LED for me this year unless the latest Panasonic or Samsung plasmas prove to be suitable for gaming.

Where is stapped?? I presume he has seen the review of the F8500...wondering if it has influenced his decision?

I'm still here mate; though I bought another TV already.

The F8500 is an excellent TV; it's just that Panasonic has moved things on again this year.

Hi RocketRazor,

I'm not convinced that reading is accurate. (It would be impossible on an LED TV.) Can you link to the review? I'm interested to read how they measured lag.

I presume you went with a Panny plasma then strapped?? Which model did you get in the end and are you happy with it so far??

I just hope you get no issues from your new tv and get years of hassle free viewing mate 😛ray:

Thanks mate.

I went VT65. I cost me £700 more than the GT50, but it's a noticeably better TV. The picture is superior in many regards and, while there are a few minor hiccups (50Hz motion is improved if still not flawlessly smooth), there are no issues that prove overtly distracting.

Overall I'm a great deal happier. Assuming no issues develop, this is my TV for the next four-to-five years.
