hi all
im running a sagem axium htd 501 50" rear projection tv for the last 3 years, the picture quality is good and im happy with the tv so far. im now toying with buying a sony rdrhxd890b dvd recorder i like the idea of it being able to upscale to 1080. but here lies my prob on reading the spec of the sony dvd it says that to achieve the best possible picture then the too machines need to be connected to each other via the hdmi output to hdmi input, thats fine but the tv does not have a hdmi socket but does have a dvi-i socket, i know there are adaptors to alter between cables so i can connect some how. the next thing is that on reading info from other forums it states that my tv does not have hdcp???? will this make a difference?. does this mean that even if i can connect between the too will i not recieve a 1080 signal?. is the dvi-i socket for p.c only?
some info from the sagem manual:
INPUT SIGNALS:
video signal: native/upscale: sdtv/edtv (480i/480p) (576i?576p) HDTV1080i/720p)
this means jack to me but will make sence to the gurus out there.
my existing dvd player is connected via component and is very good but the idea of buying the sony recorder and not getting the best from the machine is putting me off
so big question is will it work????
many thanks...
