Question Hdmi handshake issue

I have a question and it's quiet mind-boggling. There are 2 TV's in store, both playing the same tv decoder signal. The one tv(telefunken) plays and the other(hisense) hdmi won't detect. I Swap the cables. The one that don't, still dont play. Opened up a new TV of the same model and still it won't play.
I then removed the tv that won't play and connect it straight to a dvd player and it works.
My question is why does only the one tv play on the splitter? How do you explain this?

Have you tried disconnecting the Telefunken to see if the Hisense plays then?
