now thats not really true either but each to there own

biggest problem in hifi is everyone increasing output levels, volume levels, increasing sensativities of spekers ect

which means limits are hit long before the kit is operating at its best - like tuning a car purely for accelration and compromising top speed

so really you just have a hatred of russ andrews and anyone with a differing opinion to yours - you almost sound like ashley!!!

all i am saying in my setup is i prefer it with the attenuators in place as have better control of the volume pot and to me a better tonal balance

if cable burn in was all only about your ears becoming used to the sound everyone that walked in to your house and heard your stereo would be like god thats harsh, bright, dull or whatever - how come you can accept that your ears change to like something/become used to it but that the cable can't improve with use until reaches its optimum???

My findings as well with attenuated cables. Andrew spoke of this earlier, that there is an optimal range over which an amp will sound its best. Attenuators increase that range. I found that particularly useful for listening to music at lower volumes, before I went headfi.

you should really give it go - also think the poster has given up way to early on the cables - silver cables take forever to run in!

You could be right - but I think the issue of the deterioration for me is more around the Silver Streak being the only stranded cable in my system when all the others are solid core.

I have tried it before- robbed the life out of my music too. Will never, ever buy anything of the sort again.
