Just tried  my Russ Andrews GQ-24 ipod cable with my new ipod touch. It doesn't work

Useless!  There is no mention of this incompatibility on the Russ Andrews website, or the WHF review.  The lead isn't damaged, as it works fine with my ipod 80g classic!

Don't say that Griffy, I've just ordered one for my Ipod Touch!

Don't know if this "fix" can be used on the Itouch but It's from the Russ Andrews site for Iphones.

'Using the GQ-24 with an iPhone
When you connect the GQ-24 to an iPhone, the following message may appear - 'This accessory is not made to work with iPhone'. Simply press Yes, enter Airplane mode and you're good to go!'

Any Good?

Let me know as I may have to cancel my order otherwise!

The cable works on the old ipod touch, but not the newer latest model.

I don't have an airplay mode, and have checked all the settings but nothing will get it working.

What a load of rubbish! ÿPoor advertising, and a poor review by WHF?

I bought the lead back in October, for use with a litle headroom headphone dac/amp.

I hope they are in a helpful mood when I call them, as my last email (about a different matter, more of a query) was not answered! I hate being ignored when I am looking to spend my hard earned cash, and the company can't be bothered to even reply

Interesting article in one of the magazines this month entitled "iPod Fiasco", because in the very latest gen of iPods Apple changed the spec for the dock connector without notice, rendering some accessories useless. I'll see if I can dig up some info...

Certainly not the latter, I can assure you.

We tested the GQ-24 with the new-generation iPod Touch, iPhone 3G, nano and Classic (plus a couple of earlier models) and it works fine. In fact we use it on a daily basis in our MP3 room, without a hitch.

We suspect that in error you've been shipped one of the earlier models, which got caught out by Apple's unannounced spec change (JD is right - loads of manufacturers got scuppered by this. Want to know why there's a dearth of new iPod hi-fi docks this Xmas? That's why...).

We've contacted Russ Andrews for comment and will let you know the response.

Griffy, if you bought the lead back in October, I suspect you've got a pre-update model. Remember, our review was published in the middle of November, at which time the cable had been modified for use with the new iPhone and Touch.

I bought the next gen ipod touch back in October, then purchased the GQ-24 a week or two later. ÿUntil now I've been using it with my 80gb ipod classic and had no problems.

It does seem like I have an older version of the GQ-24, and as Apple changed the Ipod connector wiring on the new models, then I've been a little unlucky! ÿ

Russ Andrews have very promptly contacted me (thanks Clare!

and have offered to send me a new version of the GQ-24 to try on my sexy ipod touch. ÿThumbs up to Russ Andrews for prompt action, and the WHF team for their help too

Glad to hear this has been resolved for you Griffy and thanks to Tom Parsons for flagging this up with Russ Andrews.

The company has asked me to say that any users who are experiencing problems (as a result of having the earlier generation of cable) may return it to Russ Andrews to be swapped for the latest version.

The Russ Andrews GQ-24 cable was modified to work with the latest generation iPod Touch and iPhone following Apple's recent specification change (which Clare quite righty pointed out caused problems for many manufacturers). The new cable has been extensively tested on a variety of iPod and iPhone models (I am actually using one right now on an iPhone with the latest software) and works perfectly.

With regard to Griffy and Kena's unanswered emails, these unfortunately were not received by Russ Andrews - the company prides itself on excellent service and would have answered the queries. If anyone else experiences unanswered emails please pick up the phone. The customer service and technical teams are very willing to help resolve any issues. Tel 0845 345 1550

Just to put people's minds at rest I received my GQ-24 interconnect this afternoon, plugged it in to my Itouch and it worked immediately :)

Fantastic bit of kit with great sound quality.

My Mrs thought I was bonkers spending £60 on what she calls "A bit of wire" but even she has conceded that it is worth it!

I would recommend it to anyone.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, we tested the cable with a couple of older generation iPods (two different-gen Classics, I believe) and it worked fine.
