Hi Fellow Members,

Hope you've all had a great start to the New Year...!!

I'm looking very keenly at the Monitor Audio RX line for my new 5.1 setup.

My Living Hall size in feet is....

Length = 19 feet ( 6 meters )
Width = 13 feet ( 4 meters )
Height = 9 feet ( 2.75 meters )

I'm looking at the RX 1 + RX Center + RX FX + RX W12 ( RX 1 AV Package ) The Setup will be used 100 % for Movies usage only.

Will the RX 1 be able to fill this room size ?

What say guys...?

Thanks

What is the viewing distance?

From what you said so far I would say not really RX1 are more for a small music room.

Go for the RX6 you wont regret it

Hi rana_kirti

The RX1's will be fine although i think if your budget allows then i'll have to go along with canada16's suggestion and also recommend the RX6's or even the RX8's as more suitable alternatives.

Btw, what AV amp will you be using with these speakers?

Viewing distance would be between 12 - 14 feet.

I'd love to go RX6 but it's kinda above my budget Just trying to see if i can get by with the RX1 as the setup will be used only for 100% Movies usage only that too just once a week ( Coz i read they go down to 45 hz and the subwoofer is pretty awesome upto 21 hz so i guessed keeping XO at 80hz would be perfect ) If they can't make it in that room size then i can max stretch budget to RX 2.

Would the RX 2 cut it in that room size ?

or else i'll simply have to go with Bronze BX2 + BX Center + BXFX + BX Woofer. ( But just concerned with that tiny BX Center )

& Which AV amp will i be using....? lol.....

Hi rana_kirti

Fair enough.

The RX2's will bridge the gap by some margin. As good as the BX Series is please continue to consider the Silver RX Series as these are much better

Btw, i am waiting for you to tell us what AV amp you'll using. Go on i have faith in you

I used to have the RX1 package but with the B&W610 sub and Yamaha RXV1065 in my room which is exactly the same size and these worked excellently, the only reason I changed was because the wife did not like the "standard" speakers after being used to "lifestyle" ones in the past. RX2 may be a good idea if you can stretch a little.

Rick,

Thanks to you, the AVR will be the New Yamaha RX V2067....!!! :)

Ok i'll keep my focus solely on the RX series.

markjaspi,

thanks for that input. what was/is your viewing/listening distance when u were using the RX1's. How far were they from the back wall and did you notice any bass boom for 2 channel music on them ?

Cheers :)

Viewing/listening distance is about 4.1m, perfectly rectangular room, with the rxfx on the side Walls, just behind the listening position in dipole mode. The RX1s where about 100mm off the wall, a bit close I know but any further out and my 2 Yr old daughter would have messed with them. No boom effect of the rear Walls what so ever. They do supply bungs for the rear ports if needed.

a request to all Monitor Audio owners...

could you describe the "sound" of the Monitor Audio Silver RX/Bronze BX series briefly......

are they laid back/ neutral / warm / bright or any other specific quality....?!?

thanks ;-)

On my pioneer I find them, very detailed with not too much treble.

They are almost like a tiger in the grass ready to strike, you dont hear them until its too late.

They intigrate very well and not in your face or laid back, they almost seem perfect.

I love them, and would buy them again if I could do it all over again

I didnt want to create new topic regarding MA RX12AV .

My room is almost the same as rana_kirti's and using Yamaha rxv2067 with MA RXav12 but without a subwoofer. So here goes my question : is MA RX-W12 too powerful for such a roomsize ? I dont want to create an overkill setup ;)

My roomsize is about 15 foot long by 11 foot wide , i was a bit worried about getting the RX6AV12 in such a small room, but need not have worried as it sounds fantastic, the only worry i have is keeping my two seven year olds away from them. I also fully endorse the sub, it underpins everything and gives it that atmospheric cinema feel.

I also auditioned the BX5.1 with the Yamaha RXV1067 and found the centre lacking ,

would definitely recommend spending the extra if you can.

I also have the ma-rx6s av with a pioneer amp for movies. I like Canada am more than pleased with the combo performance at low and high volume levels. You could consider getting a pioneer vsx2020 + a free pioneer bdp430-3D prices from £799 then try and stretch for the rx6s. The pioneer vsx2020 is the same amp as the pioneer lx53 in a different shell. good luck
