Perhaps when posting in forums, if you don't like the way others react to your views on cables, or anything else, just keep quiet about them...

Otherwise, be prepared to take the rough with the smooth.
I've always been open minded about these cable experiments.
Science isn't something that's etched in stone. Short comings is always down to process and methodology.
Findings today where they tell you there's no definitive proof that cables sound better or different. May hold true until it is scientifically disproven, that is why, I value my ears, more than the pretty curves on the VDU.
Why do we assume there's a direct correlation with measurements on a graph and sound quality?

Why is the air much sweeter in the valleys than the air in Sheffield?
My little machine tells me the constitution of the elements that produce the oxygen is exactly the same, so it's all in my head.
It's scientific fascism!
Due to advancements in technology, scientific doctrines are always open to challenge and can subsequently proven to be falsehood.
Here's a link to cable tests that have a very different outcome. Worth a read.
Will it change your view on the sonic merits of different cables.
I think not but always good to have an open mind.

We're not wrong to assume that Jason.
Because anything that can actually be heard, can be measured.

What about stereo image? you might ask.
That's something constructed in the brain of the listener.
It is - based on miniscule time differences between the speakers - differences that can be measured.

Fair enough Gray, it's Christmas 😅🎄 🎄 🎁
Have a great festive season celebration and may the new year ahead is a special one for you and yours.
Merry Christmas everybody 👍

Perhaps you were looking at the most expensive XLR cables. Ewa cables are much cheaper than Tellerium and equally as good . View attachment 8112View attachment 8112
I’m probably not the intended audience, so shouldn’t have replied to your original post.

I paid £45 for a pair of Mogami XLRs, and even then I’m fairly sure I could have spent half as much and achieved the same sound in my system. I remember from my studio days that you can avoid degradation with pretty basic cabling if the signal is properly balanced.

No doubt these are quality cables. I use Mogami, Gotham and Canares XLR. They're fraction of the costs and really good.
Most professionals use Mogami
Check on Amazon WBC. This brand sells Mogami, Canares, Gotham, Van Hul and pricing not unreasonable.

The last cable I bought was a replacement HDMI cable, to link the TV to the Q Acoustics soundbase. Was a Van Damme in contractor's packaging, ½ the price of the same cable in consumer packaging...

That’s very helpful @Jasonovich and @Friesiansam - I checked WBC out on the filthy dirty tax-avoiding rotters’ site and the quality looks high: but 7AWG?? Can it actually go round corners? Canare 4S11 11AWG and Van Damme 12AWG look great - do you think they can adapt the terminals? I need BFC on the amp end. But that’s a lot of cable for the money.

7 AWG that's mental thick!
BFC, you don't mean BNC? :) You might find customised cabling, possibly on other sites. Failing that you can get an adapter, I've seen these on the dirty tax-avoiding rotter's site ha ha ha, got me saying it now!

I'm thinking about replacing my Neat Momentum SX5i for the Bowers & Wilkins 702 S3 Signature Edition. Does anyone have reservations about that and/or experience with the B&W?
B&W make excellent speakers, I would suggest finding a dealership near you.
If this is doable, audition the other brands including the 702 S3s. This will manage your expectations but also give you a flavour of the alternatives.
This would be the sensible approach but may not be realistic for you.
I personally make purchases based on reviews. Not just one review but many, so I can get some consistency. Not always ideal because many of these sites operate under sponsorship but the good ones are more transparent.
I tend to read everything about the product, get genuine opinions so I'm able map it into my system.
You need to ask also
What is my Sound plan?

Do I want new speakers to sound like my old speakers but with better bass extensions or softer treble, more soundstage?
Or bored with the old speakers, looking for a completely different sound or tonality?
Always good to have a sound plan in your head? 😉

I should have posted this thread when it was still future tense but now that I have already made the purchase, I thought I share, this might interest people who are looking to network their local files, mainly streaming without the internet (though you can use it as a streamer via boothtooth).

I had some issue with my digital transport JF MX-Pro, the USB output was playing up, I need to check if it is still under warranty and send it back to seller.
Cut to the chase, I got a replacement, VOVOFOX AP05S from AliExpress, this can be used as a digital transport as well as an all in one digital media player, it has it's own FPGA DAC converter.

I have the USB output going into the Matrix Mini i-4 Streamer/DAC, so not had chance to compare the bespoke FPGA with ESS chipset.

The only issue I have with it, software default and manual is in Chinese, managed to convert the display partially to English. The seller said he will manually convert the manual in English and email it to me on completion, Despite all that, it's really good in terms of quality, really impress with this unit.

I like the NVME M2 SSD slot feature at the base of the unit. I have 2TBs of memory storage tucked away.
Potentially you can still use it has a streamer via bluetooth from your phone.
It is Linux based, no quirky Android. Once I have everything in English, it'll be interesting to see all the embedded apps but essentially I'm using it has digital transport.

This operates like a desktop PC and is great for playing your music files, has 5.5" screen, don't require a DAC and best of all, looks like poor mans Eversolo without the internet streaming. They do need to sort out the English documentation first.

Update
Just by tinkering around with it, I managed to default it to Full English, WiFi setup and lastest firmware installed, all good!
